At Lake (13 mins)

Mistaya directed, danced and produced this short dance film as an hommage to experimental filmmaker, Maya Deren. Based on Deren’s 1944 film, At Land, At Lake is a surreal meditation on nature and the relationships between movement, landscape and chance. Interpreted through the lens of our current time and shot in Eastern Québec, At Lake is driven by the themes of exploration, separation, duplicity and connection. Mistaya performs in At Lake with dance artist, Isabelle Poirier.

At Lake has been presented internationally at more than a dozen film festivals, winning the Prix de Lumière for Best Short Film at Cinédanse 2023, and Best Cinematography at the Experimental Sound, Dance and Music Film Festival.

At Lake is currently available on the prestigious platform Collection Hybrides, which showcases 60 different Canadian dance films from across the last 60 years. https://collection.regardshybrides.com/
